New FC Barcelona boss Hansi Flick wants to beef up the middle of the pitch, and his ideal signing is a former pupil: Joshua Kimmich.

Flick knows Kimmich very well from his time at Bayern Munich and the German national team. Flick deployed him as both a right-back and a midfielder, depending on the circumstances.

The problem is financial: Barcelona will have a difficult time coming up with the money both for his salary and to pay in a transfer fee.

Guido Rodríguez has also been a target of the Catalans’, but at the moment there are rumors that he may not sign with Barcelona after all.

The Betis and Argentina midfielder has other offers, and it’s thought that he is keen to confirm his new club soon. At the moment, due to FFP rules, Barcelona cannot sign him.

Another option that scouts are looking into is Pepelu, who at 25 years old, just had a breakout season with Valencia CF.
