Barcelona are reportedly planning on renewing 19-year-old midfielder Unai Hernandez’s contract and then promoting him to the first-team.

Unai has impressed with Barcelona Atletic and bagged a hat-trick in their promotion play-off semi-finals last season. He was also part of the pre-season tour to the United States.

According to Jijantes, Barcelona want to extend his contract - which expires next summer - by the end of the year to secure his future at the club.

The plan is also then to include him in the first-team dynamic and follow in the footsteps of other young stars such as Marc Casado and Lamine Yamal.

Barca met with his agents this week at the Ciutat Esportiva to discuss his future and their plans to keep him at the club.

There has been interest in Unai from other clubs in recent months, but it seems he’s only interested in staying and trying to make the breakthrough into the Barca first team.
